Brittney herself is a South-Central Indiana photographer, so it was even more of a treat to be chosen by her and to brainstorm with her during our shoot.  I'll be photographing her October wedding, as well.  This shoot was at her favorite state park location, where she has wonderful personal memories.

Back to work in Bloomington....  Here, an image from an engagement shoot this past week.  I'm working interestingly and creatively with my speed light, experimenting with different techniques and looks.  Photography is endlessly fascinating and multifaceted....

Back to beloved Bloomington following a month-long Route 66 exploration....  Stepping immediately into portraits, engagements, weddings, team events, etc., but will be forever grateful to have had the opportunity to block out a month for this life-enriching journey across the most famous roadway in our country.

Route 66, and all its corollary tie-ins and nuances and fascinating people/places/things, is a treat for the senses.  My soul is uplifted.

Driving the length of Route 66 is everything I've hoped it would be.... What a joy.  Free time, a camera and open roads is a combination that's all but unbeatable.

Exceedingly powerful, pulsating, knee-buckling past 120 days -- a mini, condensed lifetime, in many ways.  Deaths, graduations, non-stop work, election to PSA Board presidency, 60 days of classes and tests to further my career, etc....

Tired, proud, sad, hopeful -- a bit shellshocked -- we leave this weekend for our long-anticipated monthlong Route 66 trip with my dad.  I am looking so forward to the passing neon, abandoned gas stations, small-town diners and scenery meandering past the car windows...

If you've stumbled upon my website but haven't yet followed me on Facebook, please consider doing so.  You'll find me at https://www.facebook.com/jeffnorrisphotography/.  I get around to posting a shot (or handful) from about one in every ten shoots (who has time for more.....?!) and am proud of my growing, vibrant list of reviews.

I was talking with a massage therapist this week and we began noting many of the similarities in our chosen passions -- we love to use our talents to make our clients feel great; we get to know our clients well in, essentially, small windows of time; our clients look forward to seeing us and feel even better during and after our time together; there's a deep honesty and intimacy that's created in joining together to trust each other and believe in the outcome; often our talents are seen by others as luxuries, available only on a "special occasion" basis (though we don't define them as such).....  On and on....  In short, however, the two careers (and a few other careers also share the common denominator) are about giving, helping, creating comfort and confidence and pleasure and beauty.  I'm honored that my work is valued by others.  Photography brings so many positives to my life, and my life, in turn, brings so many positives to my own personal photography business.  I'm intertwined and doing exactly the right thing for me and my clients.  Awfully wonderful and blessed way to live a life....

The most incredible day today (and week this week)....  Unimaginable the good fortune that has landed in my lap this week.  Thank you to all my clients.  Thank you to fate.  And Zen.  And, distinctly, God.  Thank you to the universe for lining up miracles that I cannot believe fall upon me.  Lou Gehrig is most famous for saying it, but I certainly feel I'm the luckiest guy in the world.

My entire business model is to be the best photographer in South-Central Indiana measured on the intersection of Best Photography/Fairest Price/Best Service.  There are X and Y and Z all around, but I love my three-way niche.  So do clients.

I'm in awe of the wonders of this beautiful, gorgeous, precious world.

Life is fascinating.  It's a whitewater ride, in many ways.  We steer and guide and intend, but, often, the boat goes where the boat goes.  We, alternatively, hang on tight and paddle wildly.  I love the process.  I love the chaos of thinking I've got it, then the boat flips; believing it's all out-of-control and then finding a quiet pool.  It, the river, just keeps rolling along.  We, in turn, do, as well.

One of the hidden beautiful aspects of shooting a wedding (any event) is quietly walking alone around the grounds both before and after the ceremony. There are images everywhere, all around us, all the time, waiting to be seen.
