So excited that my studio will be open within two weeks.  The studio space, which I'm prepping now, will allow me to best serve clients.  If you're in South-Central Indiana call me for a portrait session -- a perfect gift for Valentine's Day....  I'm conveniently located at 112 North Walnut, right on the beautiful Courthouse Square in Bloomington.  We can incorporate indoor studio shots, outdoor location portraits and/or mix-and-match.

Give my Facebook page a "Like" (Jeff Norris Photography), check out my Instagram (Jeff Norris Photography) and come back here often to stay updated on my work and my Grand Opening specials.  I'll also post daily specials on my sandwich board, right outside the studio on the Walnut Street sidewalk.  My plan is to keep the board fun, informative and ensure that it'll function as the primary source of communication to pedestrians enjoying a stroll around the Square.  By spring I plan to include my studio in the Bloomington Gallery Walk.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

I think I saw you in an ice cream parlor, drinking milkshakes cold and long, smiling and waving and looking so fine, don't think you knew you were in this song.

And it was cold and it rained, and I felt like an actor, and I thought of ma, and I wanted to get back there, your face, your race, the way that you talk, I kiss you, you're beautiful, I want you to walk.

Rest in Peace, DB

Photography is so multifaceted, and one powerful branch of the art is "fun" photography.  Snapshots, goofy family portraits, whimsical moments, unexpected facial expressions, children and pets, to name a few, are always a joy to photograph.

My closest friends know that part of keeping my work week fun includes managing a Facebook page for our pug, Maggie.  Pugs are fascinating to photograph, because their faces are pure expression, and you always know what they're thinking (usually about food...!).  Check out Maggie the Pug on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/MaggieThePug) for a once-a-week smile and a nice accompanying photograph.  Somewhere, sometime, each week I'm smiling and relaxing while working with Maggie to produce that week's post.  I hope she's enjoying the process, and finding it all as fun as I do.  We laugh that she may think her name is "Awwwwww", which is what she always hears when folks see her posing for that week's photo.....

Talking with a guy earlier today about how fast the years go by.  And they do, it's true.  I'm certain that's one of the key pulls of photography -- that moments are paused; that we can take a few minutes to reflect and recall and appreciate.

I shot this landscape this week on a short drive to French Lick.  I drove past the scene, made a U-turn, came back and pulled off the road to shoot this before heading on to the gorgeous French Lick and West Baden hotels.

Life speeds by.  U-turns sure help.  Moments pass.  Most are gone forever.  It's such a blessing to be able to go back to something special that you've experienced and preserve it in some way.  I love this ability, even if it's true only via art.

Photography is the song my heart sings.

Christmas goes hand-in-hand with beautiful photography.  Both preserve moments in time, and help us pause to appreciate, remember and feel.  Pick up your camera this weekend.  Make images of your friends, your family, your pet and your surroundings.  Know that your photography will be treasured by many lives for decades to follow.  Holding a camera helps remind us that we're present.  That we are alive, seeing, noticing and responding.  That we're thankful.  That the moment matters.

Merry Christmas to you.

Just finished the most successful week of my business.  Wow.  I thank every client, model, advisor, supplier and friend for my windfalls.  Business can and does come from so many unanticipated avenues, and I'm exited about each one.  Great photography is hard work.  And I love hard work.
